EMPLOYER NOMINATION SCHEME
(Subclass 186)
This is a visa enabling employers to nominate the applicant for a permanent visa. It is a two step process. Firstly, nomination by a business lawfully operating in Australia and then the visa application. Applicants can be a skilled overseas worker or a skilled worker presently living and working in Australia on a temporary visa.

SKILLED EMPLOYER SPONSORED REGIONAL (PROVISIONAL)
(Subclass 494)
This is a temporary visa for skilled workers nominated by an employer to fill a skill shortage in a designated regional area of Australia. It is valid for 5 years and the holder can apply for permanent residence after 3 years from time of grant.

TEMPORARY SKILL SHORTAGE
(Subclass 482)
This is a temporary visa which has replaced the subclass 457 enabling the holder to work and live in Australia up to 4 years, dependent on occupation. It is a three step process: sponsorship by an employer who is approved as a Standard Business Sponsor, nomination by the employer once sponsorship is approved and the visa application.
